Chenglong Li Receives Tsinghua–Asian Universities Alliance Sustainable Development Young Scholar Program Grant for Academic Visit to Qatar University

Chenglong Li, Associate Research Professor at the Institute for Network Sciences and Cyberspace, has been awarded the Tsinghua–Asian Universities Alliance Sustainable Development Young Scholar Program. Supported by this program, Chenglong Li conducted an academic visit to Qatar University from January 28 to February 5, 2026, and engaged in scholarly exchange with the research group of Prof. P. N. Suganthan (IEEE Fellow) at the College of Engineering. The visit focused on topics related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
During the visit, interdisciplinary discussions were carried out at the intersection of cyberspace science, artificial intelligence, and engineering systems, with particular emphasis on AI-powered networking and intelligent Internet of Things (IoT) management. Chenglong Li delivered a seminar entitled “Intelligent Management System for IoT Devices,” followed by active discussions with faculty members and students. Chenglong Li also met with Prof. Mohammed Hussein, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Prof. Amr Mohamed, Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department, to explore potential collaboration in joint research, academic exchange, and project development.
Through this visit, both sides exchanged research insights on multiple specific technical areas, including AI-based cyberspace mapping, IoT device identification, and anomaly detection, laying the groundwork for further academic and scientific collaboration.

The visit was funded by the Tsinghua–Asian Universities Alliance Sustainable Development Young Scholar Program.
Program Background
To support the Tsinghua University’s Global Strategy 2030 and promote international collaboration and sustainable development initiatives, Tsinghua University established the Tsinghua–Asian Universities Alliance Sustainable Development Young Scholar Program with support from the Tsinghua Sustainable Development Fund. The outbound mobility component of the program supports early-career faculty members in conducting short-term academic visits to member universities of the Asian Universities Alliance, fostering knowledge sharing, collaborative innovation, and joint research in sustainable development–related fields.
